Our Summer Associates Are Prepped to Reach, Teach, and Inspire This Summer!

Raising A Village Summer Associates are one step closer to positively impacting youth this summer! On Friday, June 30, 2023, Summer Associates completed their final day of in-depth training together on the campus of Wesley Theological Seminary. In preparation for the Summer Acceleration Program, SAs participated in a specialized training exercise that simulated a classroom environment. As part of this exercise, RAV staff acted out complex student scenarios that SAs may encounter when working in a tutoring capacity. This technique challenged SAs to apply their knowledge and training effectively while ensuring students feel supported. In addition, it allowed their peers and mentors an opportunity to provide constructive feedback and share essential methods utilized in the classroom.

"To empower students, we must first understand how they think and act," said Site Lead Britney Padilla. "I think a lot of the Summer Associates will find this training helpful and valuable to their experiences working with youth."
