Our Impact
We create pathways of opportunity for the region’s most vulnerable areas, in an effort to improve community conditions and effectively help families and children reach their full potential.

Raising A Village provides education based intervention programs and community resources through the Driven 2 Succeed program (D2S). Since its inception, D2S has served over 2,000 elementary, middle, and high school students across the District of Columbia through a wide variety of programs including in-classroom support, homework help, lunch and learn and summer acceleration.
80% of learners complete all homework and classwork assignments on time
75% of learners who participate in the Driven 2 Succeed Program have perfect attendance
70% of learners show positive grade increases in math and reading when working with a Driven Student Guide
When a student commits to the D2S program, their grades increase, disengagement goes down, and one more student is placed on the pathway to thrive in school, community, and life. Driven 2 Succeed’s focus on both academic and social-emotional development provides a holistic approach to help students reach their full potential. D2S offers a unique blend of services for children and youth who are experiencing turbulent transitions and offers a positive support system to help them avoid the pitfalls that can hinder them from completing assignments, advancing in class, and moving forward to graduation and post-secondary success. The focus is slightly different at various educational levels, but the goal remains the same; to empower young people to succeed.
At the heart of our program model, Raising A Village Foundation uses multiple data points to monitor student progress, program quality, and to evaluate program success. Our programs are evaluated annually by utilizing data like grade reports, attendance records, as well as surveys from participating students, educators, Driven Student Corps Members, community partners, and parents. Survey participants are asked to assess each program’s efficacy in helping students develop targeted skill sets.
We assess participating learners at the end of each academic quarter through grade reports, attendance data, and assignment completion rates. Also, we formally survey students, teachers, parents and community partners twice each year to track student progress and ensure high-quality programming. When completing evaluations, participants are asked to reflect on the program’s role in promoting school readiness. They are also required to complete professional evaluations on the Driven Student Corps Members who support their classrooms.
Driven 2 Succeed (D2S) can only achieve its long-term goal of improving education for vulnerable populations and improving school readiness by ensuring the program's components achieve ambitious, clearly defined goals.
Driven Student Corps Members and tutor volunteers are the most important factors in helping learners make academic gains. Our students and Driven Student Corps Members are required to complete a matching process, which helps us understand background, skillset, and future interests so we may properly match them with the right classrooms and students.

Story from Ms. Lisa was helpful throughout the school year. I give her a 10/10 and would love to have her back next year. She helped me understand my schoolwork. I hope she is doing well on her journey.

This past year, Raising A Village and our dedicated Driven Student Corps Members helped approximately 1,000 learners move through their first school year back from the COVID-19 shut down. Help us as we continue to journey with our youth and meet our $10,000 fundraising goal.
