Summer of Growth: A Look Back at Raising A Village’s 2025 Summer Acceleration Program
This summer, Raising A Village hosted our Summer Acceleration program—a dynamic, student-centered initiative designed to support academic growth, enrichment, and social-emotional development for youth at Meridian Public Charter School and The Brooks at Friendship Place. Over the course of six weeks, we engaged over 100 students students in a curriculum rooted in literacy, math, STEM, health and wellness, and art while creating a nurturing, empowering environment.
Here are some of our key outcomes:
📚 120 students in grades Pre K–8 participated
🎯 89% of students showed growth in literacy or math benchmarks
🧑🏫 3 certified instructors and 8 Driven Student Corps (DSC) mentors led programming across both sites
Beyond academics, the program provided a safe space for students to build confidence, form friendships, and gain exposure to new ideas. Parents expressed gratitude for the structure and enrichment the program offered.
“I was impressed by the level of growth my son experienced during his time at the program, “ said parent Y. Winston. “His speech and social skills have improved and the team has been so patient and encouraging. He is always excited to get up in the morning and come here.”
Our summer acceleration program would not have been possible without the unwavering dedication and of our staff, the energy of our DSCs, and the support from partners at Families and Youth in Transition. As we head into the school year, we’re building on this momentum. Stay connected by making a contribution of any size and/or volunteering with us this fall by contacting volunteer@raisingavillage.org!
