COVID-19 UPDATES
Hello Neighbors,
Let me take this opportunity to provide you with an update on what Raising A Village Foundation is doing to support and provide relief to our families, students and staff. Health, safety and security continue to be our highest priorities as we continue to monitor this unprecedented health crisis. Please find our updates below:
School Closures:
In response to Coronavirus COVID-19, there have been changes to the school year 2019-2020 calendar. All schools will be closed for students from March 16 to April 27th. With this in mind, the Driven 2 Succeed program in our DCPS schools has been postponed. During this most uncertain time, let’s think about our neighbors and extend a helping hand.
Community Centers:
We are currently working with our community centers at Wardman Court Apartments and 1330 Apartments to support students and their families in this time of transition through virtual after school homework support on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00pm-6:00pm through online software.
Driven Student Guides (FWS Students):
Our Driven Student Guides are the heart and soul of our Driven 2 Succeed program. These high-achieving college students provide academic interventions for our students day in and day out. To ensure that we support their transition, we will continue to make payments to our DSGs for hours they would have worked.
We recognize that this is an intense and overwhelming time for our community. We are fortunate to be in an environment that is compassionate and thoughtful. Let’s continue to practice safety for the good of everyone. Let’s continue to Raise a Village.
